Nagpur - How to get there:

By Airways:
Nagpur city is linked to Mumbai, New Delhi, Calcutta, and Chennai via air. It is nearly 6 Kms from Nagpur Central.

By Railways:
Electrified broad gauge railway tracks connect Nagpur to all four major metros. Destinations connected includes Mumbai, Delhi, Calcutta, Chennai, Kolhapur, Pune, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Jammu, Amritsar, Lucknow, Varanasi, Bhubaneshwar, Trivendrum, Cochin, Gorakhpur, Visakhapatnam, Bangalore, Mangalore, Patna, Indore.

By Roadways:
The district is well connected by roads with all industrial centers of the country. National Highways passing through Nagpur are Bombay-Calcutta NH-6 & Kanyakumari-Varanasi NH-7. All major highways NH-7 (Varanasi - Kanyakumari) & NH-6 (Mumbai - Sambalpur - Calcutta) and major railways trunk route (Mumbai, Chennai, Howrah & Delhi) pass through the city.

About
Nagpur has been termed as the winter capital of Maharashtra. Nagpur forms the second capital of Maharashtra and is also termed as the orange city.

Nagpur is one of the key industrial and business city and has many coal mines, thermal power plants. It has a lions share in producing cotton. The city gets its name from the river Nag that flows through this land. It is a famous land amongst the Buddhists. Believed to be the geographical and logical hub of India, it also forms an important railway junction. It is practically at geographical center of India.

Climate
The climate of Nagpur follows a typical seasonal monsoon weather pattern. The peak temperatures are usually reached in May/June and can be as high as 48 degrees. The onset of monsoon is usually from July and the season extends up to September, with monsoon peaking during July and August. After monsoons, the average temperature varies between 6 to 7 right through December and January.

Tourist Attractions

Ramtek
Ramtek, called so because it was graced by the holy feet of Lord Rama and Sita, his consort. The Ramnavami festival forms the grandeur of the region, but obviously at the Rama Temple that stands proudly atop a hill. Ramtek is 57 km from Nagpur and is well connected by rail and road to major places in Nagpur. Maharashtra State Transport has daily service with good frequency between Ramtek and Nagpur. The Ramasagar Lake, located close to Ramtek, is yet another attraction.

Pavnar
Pavnar is of extreme historical importance, and is strategically located in the district of Wardha on the verge of the Dham river. It forms one of the prehistoric colonies in the district and gets its name from a renowned Rajput King by name Pawan. Gandhi Kuti and the Paramdham Ashram of Vinobaji are worth seeing.

Sevagram
Sevagram, again from the Wardha district, bore the name Shegaon earlier. There also exists a Gandhi Ashram and a Gyan Mandir. Nagpur is 88 kms from here.

Chikhaldara
Chikhaldara, featured in the epic, the Mahabharata, this is the place where Bheema killed the villainous Keechaka in a Herculean bout and then threw him into the valley. It abounds in wildlife -- panthers, sloth bears, sambar, wild boar, and even the rarely seen wild dogs. Close by is the famous Melghat Tiger Project which has 82 tigers. The scenic beauty of Chikhaldara can be enjoyed from Hurricane Point, Prospect Point, and Devi Point. Other interesting excursions include Gavilgad and Narnala Fort, the Pandit Nehru Botanical Gardens, the Tribal Museum and the Semadoh Lake. The Melghat Tiger Reserve houses around 120 tigers.
